there’s no sadder place

Author’s note:  I like to think of a haiku as subdued poetry that packs a measure of eloquence to successfully deliver an image, a message, an emotion, a thought to the reader. It is no less purposeful than the longer forms of poetry, and if it wants to tell a story, it should be no less telling than the shortest of flash fiction.
